Job Description
Summary
I am the parent of an 11-year-old boy with complex needs including Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, looking for support for my son in out of school hours, weekdays, weekends and school holidays.
My son needs support to access leisure activities at home and in the local area.
He enjoys getting out and about and at home likes stimulating activities and sensory play including cooking, messy play and music. Some support for personal care will be required.
My son has epilepsy and requires you to have had training in administering emergency medication.
A driving license is desirable.

Previous SEN experience is preferred but this is not as essential as having a kind and common-sense approach to this role. Employee Duties:
Medication prompting/administering Personal grooming Eating and drinking assistance Moving and handling Other relevant duties as required Companionship Must be comfortable with pets Dressing / undressing Bathroom assistance
Additional duties:
Supervision and/or assistance with washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
General hair/skin care
Using the toilet
Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
Getting into bed
Assistance with medication i.e. dispensing, administering and/or prompting
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, e.g. to get changed at swimming pool.
Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
Support with physiotherapy exercises and games, relevant training will be provided Accompany when accessing social and leisure activities e.g. bus and train trips, shopping, Library, museums Accompany to therapy appointments or support groups if required Whilst on duty at the employer’s home, playing games and assisting with craft activities and activities of interest. Research/plan activities that extend and support my son’s interests.
Additional requirements
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
