We are working with a local NHS GP Practice who require a Medical Secretary on a permanent basis, 30 hours per week.
Duties to include:
- Process hospital referrals via electronic referral systems and coordinate manual referrals to community services using AccuRx.
- Prepare both standard and bespoke referral documentation based on clinician instructions, ensuring all work is completed accurately and within required timeframes.
- Manage and maintain electronic referral system worklists alongside EMIS worklists, ensuring tasks are actioned promptly.
- Handle incoming telephone enquiries and emails to the shared inbox, responding appropriately or escalating messages when required.
- Produce patient record copies from digital systems and paper files for external requests, including insurance companies, solicitors, and other authorised parties.
- Administer and process travel claim forms, private healthcare documentation, and firearms licensing applications.
- Generate and issue invoices for chargeable services, including medical reports for insurance providers, solicitors, and private patients.
- Liaise with hospital departments to follow up on queries, identify misdirected pathways, and take corrective action where necessary.
- Action patient-related tasks received via EMIS Web, Docman, and Klinik systems in a timely manner.
- Input, retrieve, and reference information accurately within the practice’s clinical systems.
- Undertake ad hoc administrative duties as required by the senior management team or Partners.
- Attend relevant training sessions and staff meetings as requested, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
