Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, caring and highly organised live-in nanny to provide exceptional care for our two daughters: a baby and a six-year-old. (The role could be live-out if the candidate lived nearby). We are looking for someone who is nurturing, proactive and confident in supporting children’s development whilst maintaining a calm, structured and engaging home environment. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our family, providing high-quality childcare alongside light household support related to the children and the smooth running of the home.
About Our Family
- We are based in the beautiful countryside of South West Scotland.
- This is a live-in position or could be live-out
- Two daughters: one baby and one six-year-old.
- During term time, the role will primarily focus on the care and development of our baby, together with school drop-offs and pick-ups for our eldest daughter.
- During school holidays, both children will be under the nanny’s care.
- Both parents work full-time, with the mother predominantly working from home. We enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that South West Scotland offers and would love to find someone who appreciates country living and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare
- Provide outstanding, attentive and nurturing care for both children.
- Create a safe, stimulating and happy environment that encourages learning, development and independence.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities, both at home and outdoors.
- Support the baby’s developmental milestones through interactive play and routine.
- Assist with the six-year-old’s homework and encourage positive learning habits.
- Promote good manners, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
School Responsibilities
- Carry out school drop-offs and collections safely and punctually.
- Support after-school routines, including homework, activities and meal preparation.
Meals
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for both children.
- Assist with family meal preparation and light cooking where appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen following meal preparation.
Household Duties
- Keeping children’s bedrooms, play areas and living spaces tidy and organised.
- Children’s laundry and wardrobe organisation.
- Tidying toys and activity areas.
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher where required.
- General light household tasks to support the family.
- Grocery shopping or collecting essentials if required.
Candidate Profile
- Have experience caring for both babies and school-aged children.
- Be warm, kind, patient and energetic.
- Be proactive, organised and able to work independently.
- Have excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with parents.
- Be confident supporting educational development and homework.
- Hold a clean driving licence (essential).
- Hold an up-to-date paediatric first aid qualification.
- Be DBS / PVG checked (or willing to obtain one).
- Be trustworthy and discreet.
- Be flexible and adaptable if needed.
We offer a comfortable live-in arrangement in the countryside of South West Scotland. We are looking for a nanny who will build a close and positive relationship with our daughters while supporting them as they grow in a happy, caring and stimulating environment.
Hours Ideally
8-6pm on Monday to Thursday and 8-3pm on Friday.
