Staffline is recruiting Shift Manager in Aylesbury.
The rate of pay is £40,000 per annum.
This is a full-time role working 5 days out of 7, and the hours of work are: - 6am -3.30pm Some weekend work will be required.
Your Time at Work
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and manage all shift-based production teams (typically 40-150 colleagues depending on site size).
- Ensure daily production plans are delivered on time and in full
- Maintain high standards of GMP, hygiene, and chilled chain integrity throughout the shift.
- Conduct effective shift handovers to maintain continuity across shifts
- Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with HACCP & customer codes of practice, and UK food safety legislation.
- Oversee CCP checks, allergen controls, traceability, and temperature monitoring.
- Immediately elevate and manage any food safety or quality incidents.
- People Management
- Manage staffing levels, including absence, breaks, skills deployment, and agency utilisation.
- Coach and develop Team Leaders and Line Leaders to build capability and succession.
- Conduct performance reviews, disciplinaries, and return to work interviews where required.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safety focused culture.
- Health & Safety
- Ensure all colleagues follow safe systems of work, PPE requirements, and manual handling standards.
- Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Champion a "zero harm" mindset across the shift.
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive efficiency improvements at the site
- Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve throughput.
- Support site-wide CI projects and customer audits.
- Performance & Reporting
- Monitor KPIs including output, waste, giveaway, downtime, labour cost, and quality defects.
- Produce accurate shift reports and elevate issues promptly.
- Ensure all paperwork, digital records, and compliance logs are completed correctly.

Essential
- Proven leadership experience in food manufacturing, ideally chilled, fresh, or short shelf life products.
- A understanding of UK food safety regulations.
- Ability to lead large teams in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision making skills.
- Comfortable working rotating shifts and overtime if and when required
Desirable
- Experience with lean manufacturing
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
