We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a school in Aylesbury. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs, providing both academic and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs in both group and one-to-one settings
- Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver tailored interventions
- Monitor and track students’ progress, offering feedback to the teaching team
- Support the development of social and emotional skills through targeted activities
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a positive, constructive manner
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient personality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
