The position will be a part of our Materials Repair and Overhaul group. It is an exciting time to be a part of the group as we are growing. The person selected for this role will be very hands-on. Wheel and/or brake experience preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Other GCSE required.
- Must possess basic mechanical skills, including the use of hand tools.
- Proficient operation of all tools/equipment in the department including glass bead and carboblast machines.
- Must possess basic understanding of shop math.
- Experience in one of the following or other related experience: Sheetmetal, hydraulic, Wheel, Brake overhaul.
Position Purpose: Under moderate supervision, repair and certify aircraft wheel and brake assemblies, subassemblies and components in accordance with Gulfstream Repair Station requirements.
Job Description Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for complying with all corporate or local company procedures.
- Highlight to the supervisor any procedures that require amending.
- Setting up, operating and cleaning all the necessary wheel & brake bay equipment and tooling.
- Maintaining all components or parts using the required CMMs.
- Maintain and utilise all required paperwork in accordance with UK CAA requirements.
- Develop and apply basic skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriate to area of specialization.
- Perform repairs of mechanical and subassemblies through removals, repair or replacement of defective parts and/or fabrication of replacement parts, and installations in accordance with blueprints, component maintenance manuals, vendor documents, verbal instructions, engineering dispositions and other authorized maintenance data to include On The Job Training (OJT).
- All activities to be in accordance with Repair Station requirements ensuring all parts and assemblies meet conformance.
- Set up and operate necessary test equipment in accordance with required documentation to perform functional and operational tests of mechanical and electrical aircraft components for return to service.
- Demonstrate effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including troubleshooting.
- Issue an authorized release certificate for components worked under the company component capability listing.
- Must have demonstrated, proven experience to be selected and approved, attend training, pass appropriate exams and through approval by QC department.
- Maintain and utilize all required paperwork in accordance with CAA/FAA/EASA RS requirements.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area including test equipment and peripherals.
- Comply with all company and legislative environmental health and safety regulations.
Additional Functions:
- Demonstrate effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including troubleshooting, soldering and application of protective coatings.
- Utilize training and tools to effectively troubleshoot complex electrical circuits and/or systems during component repair process.
- Where competent (experience based) assist with training onboarding Aircraft Component Repair I Technicians, must attend train the trainer course.
- Resolve routine questions and problems, referring the more complex issues to higher levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
