What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as the primary health and safety representative for the client, ensuring contractors adhere to H&S regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain H&S policies and procedures in line with UK regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices, ISO standards, and environmental health and safety (EHS) frameworks.
  • Monitor and review contractor safety performance, conducting investigations and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide H&S leadership and support to internal project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective measures are implemented.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) and local authorities when required.
  • Deliver training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to project personnel.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all H&S activities, including risk assessments, audits, and compliance reports.

What experience you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in health and safety management within the renewables, construction, or energy sector.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project risks and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large-scale wind, solar, or battery storage projects.
  • Certification in Environmental Management (e.g., IEMA or similar).
  • First Aid and Fire Safety qualifications.
