Gülermak Renewables is a developer and operator of renewable energy projects including solar PV, BESS and onshore wind projects. The company has a portfolio of 160MW projects in the execution phase and a potential pipeline in various European markets to be added in the next three-year period.
We are seeking a Head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) to lead the development and oversight of HSE compliance across all business functions. This role will be responsible for establishing internal procedures (including office operations and site visits) and implementing robust HSE policies and reporting frameworks for both construction and operational phases of our renewable energy projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide strong strategic and day-to-day operational leadership and promote a strong HSE culture throughout the organisation through the implementation of policies, procedures, and continuous engagement.
- Develop and own the corporate HSE strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the senior HSE advisor, providing insight on risk, compliance, and performance trends.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental stewardship across all levels of the organisation.
- Establish and maintain a robust HSE reporting system.
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis for significant incidents.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international HSE legislation.
- Develop and deliver HSE training and induction programmes for staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote behavioural safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion mental health, wellbeing, and inclusion within the HSE framework.
What you’ll need:
- 15+ years experience in a lead HSE management role.
- Proven background in the renewable energy construction and operations.
- NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and ISO standards.
- Knowledge of other European HSE legislation is an advantage.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing HSE systems and procedures across multiple sites and functions.
- Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving cultural change.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience with international HSE frameworks and cross-border project delivery.
- Experience with Poland and Germany markets highly desirable.
- Experience with digital HSE platforms and reporting tools and willingness to implement digitalisation.
- Electrical and Civil safety background.
