JOB DESCRIPTION
About the role
Would you like to join our Estates team as a Garden Services Operative and help us to deliver an excellent service for our residents? This is a great opportunity for anyone who is a customer-focused team player. We are excited to offer a new opportunity for an operative to join our dedicated Estates team, serving the Havant, Hayling Island, Portsmouth & Waterlooville area on a full-time, permanent basis.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality grounds maintenance, gardening, and cleaning services across a diverse portfolio of sites. Your responsibilities will include caring for lawns, shrubs, and plants, removing refuse, and maintaining internal communal areas to agreed standards, specifications, and timelines. As the face of Guinness on site, you will build positive relationships with customers, contractors, and colleagues, ensuring access, reporting repairs, fly tipping, graffiti, and any safeguarding concerns.
What we are looking for
We are a customer-first organisation, and we believe that how we work is just as important as what we deliver. We are looking for someone who brings not only hands-on experience in estate maintenance but also a proactive, service-oriented attitude. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Solid experience in grounds maintenance across varied sites and garden types
- Strong knowledge of lawn, shrub, and plant care
- A track record of delivering excellent customer service
- Physical capability to perform tasks safely and effectively
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and PPE
Desirable qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications would be an advantage:
- NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent (RHS, City & Guilds, HND)
- PA1 and PA6 NPTC Certificates
If you are interested in joining us and would like to apply for this position, please review the role profile to view all the key responsibilities and submit a copy of your CV.
Benefits
- Holidays: We offer 25 - 27 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays. We will also give you the opportunity to buy up to an additional 5 days. You will also receive additional holiday in line with your length of service (1 extra day per 5 years service, capped at 4 days).
- Competitive Pension Scheme: We will help you save for your retirement through our workplace pension scheme. Guinness match your contribution up to 9%. To help you get the most out of your pension contributions, we operate a salary sacrifice arrangement that means you will pay less National Insurance contributions.
