A temporary, part-time role (three days per week) as maternity cover, annual salary £19,800 (£33,000 pro rata). Guildhall Chambers is a preeminent, multi-disciplinary set of barristers chambers based in Bristol and London, operating throughout England & Wales. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic events executive in a part-time role (three days per week) as maternity cover, starting in mid-May 2026, for a fixed term of a minimum of ten months.
This role requires a blend of creativity and practicality, with responsibilities including the design, planning and execution of events that enhance our Chambers' profile and facilitate professional networking. As the Events Executive, working alongside our Marketing Executive, you will collaborate with the members of Chambers, our practice managers, external vendors and other service providers, as well as our clients, in order to ensure the seamless conduct of events, delivering the best experience for guests. Your keen eye for detail and project-management skills will be crucial in delivering high-standard events. From small, bespoke seminars and webinars to high-profile annual conferences, you will be involved in many prominent legal-sector events in the Southwest.
This opportunity will suit someone with a background in event coordination who wants the freedom of part-time working in a small, professional-services marketing team. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This is a temporary, part-time role based on three working days (23 working hours) per week, ideally Tuesdays to Thursdays, when events generally tend to take place. (There may, very occasionally, be the need to adjust the working days, if an event is due to happen on a Monday or Friday.) Working hours will usually start and finish between Chambers normal opening hours of 8:30am and 6pm. There is scope for some working from home, dependent on the needs of the business.
In addition to the salary:
- You will be included in Chambers discretionary annual profit-related bonus scheme, to which you may be entitled on a pro rata basis;
- You will be auto-enrolled after three months employment in Chambers workplace pension scheme, with employee and employer contributions of 4% of your basic salary. You may instead have the contributions paid into an existing, approved personal pension plan or you may opt out of the scheme entirely;
- You will have the option of participation in our private medical insurance scheme. This is treated as a taxable benefit by HMRC and you will be given information on the tax impact before you choose to participate;
- We offer an interest-free loan for travel to work by rail or bus and participation in an approved cycle-to-work scheme;
- Your annual paid holiday entitlement will be 20 days, including public holidays (pro rate equivalent of 33 days).
To apply for the role, please submit your CV and a brief statement saying why you are interested in the job. Applications will close at midday on Monday 4 May.
