We are in desperate need of Volunteer Minibus Drivers to support our valuable services! Guild Care volunteer minibus drivers arenβt just drivers, they are life changers because they connect lonely and vulnerable people to our services where they meet other people, socialise and feel part of the local community again. Guild Care has been making a difference to the lives of the people of Worthing and its surrounding areas since it was first established in 1933 by a small team of volunteers. Today the charity runs three care homes and over 30 community services helping over 3,000 people of all ages each year.
We are currently seeking volunteer minibus drivers to help support our invaluable transport service for the elderly and those living with learning disabilities so they can attend our day centres across the Worthing area.
Tasks & Duties:
- Drive the Guild Care vehicles in the local community to transport customers to and from Guild Care services
- Undertake vehicle and health & safety checks as required
- Act as an ambassador for Guild Care whilst out and about
- Support customers to access the vehicles / services
- Encourage customers to be independent
- Deal with any issues or incidents as they arise β following Guild Care policy & procedures
- Help to keep the office environment and vehicles clean, tidy and safe
It is essential that you have a clean driving licence with a minimum of two years' driving experience. Other legal requirements apply.
Responsibilities:
- Be guided by the manager / deputy and team members, following their instruction and direction
- Be aware of health and safety good practice and work accordingly
- Be polite, courteous, professional and friendly to the rest of the team, customers, other Guild Care staff, volunteers and any visitors
- Attend regular driving assessments
- Provide copies of driving licence on an annual basis and inform the manager / deputy of any endorsements or amendments to the licence
- Be willing to attend training, team meetings and one-to-one meetings on occasions
- Report concerns and observations relating to the welfare and well-being of customers to appropriate staff members
An Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
