The Role - Engineering Workshop Manager

As the Engineering Workshop Manager you will manage a multi-skilled team of engineers within our Workshop Department. Positions within the Workshop Department include: Fabricator/Welders, Machinists, Sheet Metal and Engineering Stores Controllers. The key purpose of the position is to effectively plan, co-ordinate and continually drive the Workshop Department forward. Reporting to the Senior Management Team, you will be accountable for developing a highly technically and motivated department that meets and exceeds the needs of the department and wider Company.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Efficiently and effectively lead and manage the Workshop Department in relation to timelines, costs, quality and delivery.
  • Directly responsible for the scheduling and manufacturing of jobs that are issued from our innovative Design Department.
  • Practical management and support of the Team Leaders across different engineering functions (sheet metal/ machining/ fabrication/ fitting) – providing leadership and drive.
  • Ensuring the highest level of Health and Safety; that department operations are in accordance with all regulatory/company Health and Safety requirements/procedures.
  • Continually develop a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Oversee the Engineering Stores Department to ensure synergy between the Stores and Workshop Department; ensuring that the Stores is able to fulfil the requirements of all Engineering functions.
  • Continually motivate and engage your team through communication, performance reviews and technical development.

The Person

We are looking for a proactive Engineering Workshop Manager with a sound knowledge of heavy engineering disciplines. Ideally from a similar background, we are looking for someone who can apply their knowledge across a variety of applications. The successful candidate must have the ability to liaise with all levels within the organisation, and have a strong desire to work within a dynamic team to drive forward results. Our Engineering Workshop Manager must be an excellent communicator and uncompromising when it comes to Health and Safety.
