We are exclusively recruiting for a leading engineering company in Tamworth, specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke, high-value, low-volume equipment. This is a key opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in SolidWorks and designing custom mechanical systems for industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop custom mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Produce detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and assembly layouts for bespoke equipment
  • Apply engineering principles to perform stress analysis, tolerance studies, and mechanical calculations
  • Modify and optimise existing designs to meet client specifications and manufacturing requirements
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct design reviews and implement changes based on testing and client feedback
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design files, engineering specifications, and project records
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors to source materials and components
  • Support the project management team with technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within bespoke equipment manufacturing
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, with a proven track record of producing detailed 3D models and assembly drawings
  • Knowledge of FMEA as part of the design process
  • Apprentice-trained or degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
