The Opportunity
Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering/manufacturing business for an Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer to join their Purchasing Department. This role would suit someone with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who is looking to develop their career within procurement. You will work as part of a small, supportive team, helping to secure the timely and cost-effective supply of parts and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise, place, and chase purchase orders in line with business requirements
- Monitor stock levels and place orders when inventory is low
- Track outstanding orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
- Assist with internal budget control and cost monitoring
- Support supplier price negotiations and cost price management
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Communicate effectively with internal departments to support production and operational needs
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with cost price negotiation or supplier price discussions
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Professional, organised, and reliable approach to work
