The Role
Guided Talent is recruiting for a Product Design Engineer on behalf of our client, an established business involved in the design and development of consumer products. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and technically minded Product Design Engineer to join a product-focused environment, taking ideas from initial concepts through detailed design and development. The successful candidate will combine strong SolidWorks skills with an understanding of product design, visualisation and manufacturing considerations. Our client is looking for someone with previous product design or design engineering experience who enjoys solving practical design challenges and creating attractive, commercially viable consumer products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new consumer products from concept through to production.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Create high-quality product visuals and renders using KeyShot.
- Develop initial concepts and translate ideas into practical, manufacturable designs.
- Support prototype development, testing and design refinement.
- Review existing products and identify opportunities for design improvements.
- Consider materials, manufacturing processes, cost and functionality throughout the design process.
- Work closely with colleagues and external suppliers to support successful product development.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, drawings and product specifications.
- Ensure designs meet relevant quality, performance and commercial requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within product design, product development or design engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Experience using KeyShot for product rendering and visualisation.
- Experience designing physical consumer products.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
- Strong 3D CAD and technical drawing capabilities.
- Good problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to balance creativity, functionality and manufacturability.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider product development team.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
