Cyber Security / Network Security Engineer who has experience building, configuring, and managing technical solutions, ideally security tools such as anti-malware, content filtering, SIEM, and threat detection solutions, is required by Guide Dogs based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

SALARY: Β£38,000 - Β£45,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cyber Security / Network Security Engineer with experience in building, configuring, and managing technical solutions, including security tools such as anti-malware, content filtering, SIEM, and threat detection solutions. Working as the Cyber Security / Network Security Engineer, you'll be at the frontline of cyber defence, working closely with the Security Operations Manager to monitor, maintain, and enhance security tools and services. You'll collaborate with external security providers, including a 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), responding to security alerts and ensuring threats are identified and addressed promptly. As the Cyber Security / Network Security Engineer, your expertise will help the organisation stay ahead of emerging security risks. Your role will involve managing security controls, running vulnerability scans, analyzing threats, and ensuring security best practices are embedded across all projects and changes. DUTIES

  • Support the Operational Security Manager by executing security operating procedures reliably on a BAU basis
  • Work with external suppliers, including an outsourced 24/7 SOC, to ensure quality and respond quickly to security alerts
  • Maintain security tools to ensure they are configured and integrated according to best practices
  • Test and apply security patches and updates
  • Produce and maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date procedural documentation
  • Participate in playbook test exercises and respond to security incidents
  • Identify current and emerging security threats
  • Analyze threat intelligence and escalate as appropriate
  • Collaborate with security and technology colleagues to mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Deliver monthly vulnerability scans and support remediation efforts
  • Analyze complex technical information to identify patterns and root causes
  • Work with Change and Project teams to ensure secure delivery of changes and deployments

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional security and technical certifications (obtained or expected), such as CISSP, CISA, CCNA, MTA IT Infrastructure, SSCP, CEH, and CREST CPSA / CRT
  • Enthusiasm for staying updated on security threats, vulnerabilities, and solutions
  • Experience in a cybersecurity, system engineering, or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with building, configuring, and managing security solutions
  • In-depth understanding of Windows OS and general knowledge of Linux and MacOS
  • Experience working with technology suppliers and outsourced services
  • Ability to interpret alerts and diagnostic information
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
