Our client, a long-standing partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an RF Designer to support the research, design, and testing of advanced radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems. This role requires strong hands-on RF design experience, with the ability to modify existing designs and produce rapid prototypes to support programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and test RF circuits for defence applications
- Produce and modify RF designs to support system integration
- Develop and prove RF designs through laboratory testing and trials
- Interface with Datalink core teams, Design Authority, and engineering stakeholders
- Ensure RF designs integrate effectively across wider system architecture
- Support rapid prototyping and design iteration where required
Essential Skills & Experience
- Practical RF component-level design and test experience across 30 MHz to 30 GHz
- Experience designing LNAs, HPAs, filters, oscillators, synthesisers, modulators
- RF design for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal)
- Hands-on use of RF test equipment (Spectrum Analysers, VNAs, Power Meters)
- Strong practical skills including soldering and fault-finding
- Knowledge of digital, analogue, and power supply design
- Experience with RF design tools (e.g. Microwave Office), including layout
- Understanding of manufacturing techniques, DFM and testability
Security & Eligibility
- British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
- BPSS clearance required (post-offer)
