Senior Engineering Draughtsperson in Stevenage

The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner is offering an exciting opportunity to join Europe's leading missile systems organisation as a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson. Working within a collaborative engineering function, you will support cross‑functional project teams to develop high-quality design definitions that align with customer requirements and manufacturing standards, contributing to innovative and mission‑critical defence solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrated expertise in creating and interpreting both 2D drawings and 3D design definitions, with a strong understanding of engineering standards and best practices.
• Produce and develop accurate 2D and 3D design definitions in close collaboration with engineering, whilst reviewing and quality‑assessing 3D models to ensure compliance across a range of defence products.

What do you need?

• Ideally qualified to Degree, HND or HNC level in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), supported by relevant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of BS8888 technical documentation, ISO 1101, ISO 5459, and GD&T principles, with the ability to apply these standards effectively.
• Proven capability to translate design intent from 3D models into robust, high-quality 2D and 3D engineering definitions, with solid 3D CAD modelling experience (CREO preferred); exposure to 3D annotation advantageous.
• Experience in the development and definition of tooling solutions within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Demonstrated experience in reviewing and validating engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multi‑disciplinary teams across mechanical design and engineering functions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and contribute to informed technical decision-making.
• Well‑developed organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands, and report progress against project milestones.
• Relevant experience with 3D CAD/CAE tools, with a proactive approach to learning and adapting to company‑specific systems (training provided).

British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team.
