Our client is a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, and they are currently searching for an experienced Configuration Management professional to join their team. In this role, you will provide technical support to the Configuration Management team. Additionally, you will be required to build strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate the development, review, and implementation of processes and procedures. Expertise in configuration management is critical to the success of developing and delivering quality engineered products to customers and end-users. As a configuration management expert, your role is essential in building trust and confidence in the program by ensuring the quality of all products produced. You will also provide technical guidance and support to project configuration managers, contributing to the overall success of the business programs by delivering excellence in technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner across multiple business initiatives to ensure a consistent and integrated approach to Configuration Management (CM).
- Review project status and key milestones to provide tailored coaching on technical practices that support CM deliverables.
- Develop a deep understanding of business-specific CM processes to effectively embed and champion these within project teams.
- Enhance CM capability and knowledge across the Configuration Management function through continuous learning and best practice sharing.
- Collaborate closely with the CM Group Lead and team members, offering clear guidance and technical expertise while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
What do you need?
- Demonstrated success within engineering environments or operational domains, with a strong technical grasp of the full product lifecycle and its critical delivery milestones.
- Extensive experience in Configuration Management within the Aerospace or Defence sector, including a proven history of leading CM activities across complex engineering programmes.
- Expert problem-solving and process optimisation skills, with the ability to define best practice and drive CM effectiveness to ensure accurate control of product data throughout development and production phases.
- Solid understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and processes, enabling efficient and controlled evolution of product data.
- Committed to coaching and developing others, sharing knowledge and best practice to build capability and foster continuous improvement.
- Strong appreciation of compliance and external standards, ensuring alignment through robust, efficient business processes.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team.
This role is based at our client's headquarters in Stevenage, a key location for missile operations. The site offers excellent transportation links, an onsite gym, and a coffee shop. Training and development opportunities are available to all employees.
