Systems Verification & Certification Engineer Land Ceptor Air Defence
£70/hour Umbrella | Inside IR35 | 37 hrs/week | Hybrid 3 days/week on-site, Bristol
Opportunity for contract extension or permanent conversion.
Play a critical role in delivering a proven, export-winning air defence system. Land Ceptor is already protecting the skies for the British Army and now it's heading to Poland under the NAREW programme, alongside other major defence contracts. We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer (V&V) to join the Functional Development team and help take this capability from design through to certified, mission-ready delivery.
This isn't a back-office compliance role; you'll be embedded in a multi-disciplinary engineering team (systems, mechanical, electrical, software), directly shaping how a live weapon system gets verified, validated, and certified for customers who depend on it working, first time, every time.
What you'll be doing:
- Working within the certification team to capture and review evidence, run technical investigations, and support delivery of Certificate of Designs for customer deliveries.
- Reviewing technical documentation to support functional evidence.
- Reviewing and agreeing Design Verification Plans (DVPs).
- Leading design reconciliation activity linked to design change and obsolescence.
- Identifying verification gaps, tracking issues, and driving corrective actions.
- Preparing and reviewing compliance documentation, verification reports, and certification evidence.
What you'll bring:
- Hands-on experience with IBM Rational DOORS Classic.
- A sharp eye for analysing evidence and assessing compliance against requirements.
- Solid knowledge of Verification & Validation (V&V) processes and methodologies.
- Experience preparing compliance documentation and certification evidence in a regulated engineering environment.
Why this role:
- £70/hour Umbrella - a strong rate reflecting the seniority and specialism this role demands.
- Work on a live, exporting weapon system with real operational impact - not a shelved or theoretical programme.
- Hybrid working - just 3 days/week on-site.
- Based at a state-of-the-art defence site in Bristol with excellent transport links and a strong social, sporting and charitable community.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our client's Security Team.
About our client: For over 70 years, our client has stood in close partnership with the UK military, delivering major milestones in defence engineering and providing essential capability to the armed forces across land, sea and air.
What happens next: If your application matches our selection criteria, a member of our talent acquisition team will contact you by email to arrange a structured screening call - a chance to talk through your experience, technical background, and fit for the role in more depth.
