Guidant Global is partnering with a leading UK defence organisation to recruit a hands-on Electronics Test Engineer to support the manufacturing test and fault diagnosis of complex electrical and electronic assemblies. This is a practical, production-based role focused on diagnosing faults down to circuit card and component level, working directly with test equipment in a manufacturing environment — not a desk-based design role.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting manufacturing test and diagnostics of electrical and electronic sub systems
  • Investigating failures down to circuit card and component level
  • Using a wide range of manual and automated test equipment
  • Introducing and supporting new test facilities, specifications and operator instructions
  • Working closely with production and quality teams to maintain build schedules
  • Contributing to defect reviews and corrective actions within a controlled defence environment

What we're looking for:

  • Essential: HNC (or equivalent) in Electronic / Electrical Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronic test and fault finding
  • Good understanding of digital and analogue measurement techniques
  • Experience using equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators and power supplies
  • Comfortable producing test instructions, specifications and technical reports
  • Desirable (not essential): RF / Microwave exposure at sub system level
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE)
  • Environmental or high voltage testing awareness
  • Defence or regulated manufacturing experience
  • SAP exposure

Test equipment you'll regularly use:

  • Oscilloscopes
  • DMMs
  • Power supplies
  • Signal generators
  • Spectrum analysers / VNAs (where applicable)
  • RF measurement equipment in a controlled test environment

Why this role:

  • Hands-on engineering — real faults, real test equipment
  • Stable, long-term defence programmes
  • Supportive engineering team
  • Clear processes and production support (not firefighting)
