Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a skilled Electrical Architect / Engineer to oversee all aspects of missile development, from initial concept to series production and in-service support. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your engineering experience.
As an experienced electrical architect / engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing the electrical architecture, missile system, and launcher requirements.
Responsibilities- Define, deliver, and assure the electrical architecture and requirements for missile systems and associated launcher equipment, working across the full life cycle from concept and design through qualification and manufacture.
- Provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with defence and industry standards, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver safe, robust, and high‐performance electrical solutions.
- Act as Equipment Manager (RMO) for specific electrical or electronic subsystems, owning delivery, performance, and compliance on behalf of the project where required.
- Define and manage system electrical requirements, including interfaces between subsystems and equipment.
- Develop and maintain electrical power architectures, including power budgets and operational power profiles.
- Specify data communication, processing architectures, and requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding, and screening.
- Ensure signal safety requirements are met, including routing and protection of safety‐critical signals.
- Support system integration, testing, fault‐finding, qualification, and verification activities.
- Conduct design assessments, technical analysis, and produce clear reports, guidelines, and processes.
- Work in accordance with applicable defence, safety, and industry standards.
- Manage internal and external design authorities to deliver hardware, software, and documentation to time, cost, quality, and performance.
- Plan, track, and review equipment activities, resolve non‐compliances, and attend design and progress reviews.
Technical Experience Required:
- Electrical / Electronics / Systems engineering (Essential)
- Interfaces; Data communication
- Knowledge of defence / industry standards, etc.
- HND or Degree level qualification in a related subject. Ideally within a defence‐related background; however, experience within other engineering industries may be considered.
- Systems Engineering
- Writing reports
- Experience within these other areas is also of interest but not essential: Power supplies; Sensors; Actuators; Defence; Weapon Systems; Health Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS); Model Based Engineering (MBE); ATEX regulations
