Hull City Council is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join its Children’s Services team. This is a vital role focused on ensuring children in care receive high-quality, timely, and effective plans that truly meet their needs.

About the Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will:
- Chair independent fostering reviews and statutory reviews for children in care
- Ensure children’s care plans are robust, timely, and outcome-focused
- Monitor local authority performance in relation to care planning and permanence
- Ensure the child’s voice is central to decision-making
- Provide independent challenge to promote best practice and accountability
- Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and multi-agency partners

What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Experience working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or in a senior children’s social care role
- Strong knowledge of fostering regulations and statutory review processes
- Confidence in chairing meetings and constructively challenging practice
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
