A hands-on Finance Manager who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments is needed for a key contract role supporting a renewable energy operations portfolio. Strong controls, clean month-end delivery, and confident stakeholder management are essential.

You’ll join a finance function that plays a pivotal role in shaping consistent, high-quality reporting and governance across a growing renewables footprint. If you enjoy combining technical accounting with coaching others and improving how things work, this role will suit you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking ownership of financial control activities for an operational renewables portfolio, ensuring robust reporting and a smooth close cycle.
  • Leading the month-end close for the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reviewing and approving key journals and ensuring appropriate controls are applied.
  • Owning balance sheet integrity, including oversight of key reconciliations.
  • Managing half-year and year-end processes, including preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Leading the statutory audit cycle, acting as the key finance contact for external auditors.
  • Supporting the handover of newly completed projects into operational reporting, ensuring the right controls and processes are embedded.
  • Line managing/mentoring a small team of accountants and analysts — developing capability and building confidence.

What we’re looking for:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Current working knowledge of IFRS and FRS 101.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality financial statements and working effectively with auditors.
  • Strong analytical capability — able to investigate, understand and resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Confident prioritisation and time management, balancing multiple deadlines and stakeholders.

Also valued:

  • Experience operating in a controls-led environment with strong governance expectations.
  • Comfort improving processes and strengthening reporting rhythm in a portfolio setting.
  • A collaborative leadership style — calm under pressure, clear communicator, and proactive problem solver.

Contract details:

  • Location: Glasgow (Hybrid – approx. 50% office based; flexibility to do 2 days one week / 3 the next).
  • Start: ASAP.
  • Duration: 6 months.
  • Rate: £500/day Inside IR35 (PAYE Umbrella).
  • Hours: 37 per week.

Why this role?

This contract gives you genuine ownership of the close and statutory cycle within a high-profile renewables context. You’ll have the scope to steady the ship, raise quality, and leave improvements behind — while working with a collaborative finance team and a purpose-driven business area.

Interested? Apply with your CV highlighting: month-end leadership, statutory accounts/audit ownership, IFRS/FRS101, and people management experience. If shortlisted, a recruiter from the team will contact you within 24–48 hours for an initial discussion. The call will come from a Manchester number (either 0161 or +44 161).
