This role sits within the Interconnects Team in Electronic Engineering (EE), a department dedicated to developing cutting-edge electronic capabilities and expertise. The Interconnects Team plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, timely design solutions by leveraging both established and emerging technologies to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Interconnects Team serves as the company’s primary technical authority on interconnectivity, specialising in the design of cables and related systems.
- Interpreting sub-system requirements to inform interconnect design.
- Creating electrical schematics and cable definitions using Zuken E3.
- Supporting and guiding E3 users and integrating Zuken E3 across the product lifecycle.
- Investigating a wide range of cable-related issues and developing effective solutions independently or collaboratively.
- Providing cross-functional support to resolve manufacturing challenges and assist with functional and environmental testing.
What Do You Need?
- Demonstrated experience (25 years) in using E3.
- Cable and associated tools such as E3.Formboard and E3.3D Transformer is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in defining, implementing, and optimizing design processes and best practices within E3, including electrical topology, schematic development, and 2D manufacturing standards.
- Strong capability in delivering technical training and support to E3 users, enhancing team proficiency and tool adoption.
- Solid understanding of product data and change management systems, particularly within Windchill or equivalent platforms.
- Skilled in designing cable assemblies that meet complex electrical and environmental specifications, including current load, shielding, signal integrity, voltage drop, and EMC compliance.
- Working knowledge of cable assembly production and process engineering principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Familiarity with PTC CREO Cabling is advantageous.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our client's Security Team.
