About the role
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support the assembly and integration of complex electro-mechanical products, working across unit build through to full system integration. You will be hands-on in a highly regulated, low-volume manufacturing environment, translating engineering designs into clear, repeatable manufacturing processes and supporting production to deliver right-first-time builds across multiple programmes. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, production and quality, offering exposure to technically challenging products and structured manufacturing practices.
What you will be doing
- Supporting electro-mechanical and electronic sub-assembly through to full system builds
- Troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues on the shop floor
- Developing, commissioning and validating tooling and fixtures to support production
- Supporting industrial validation activities, including FMEA and First Article Inspection
- Translating design intent into clear Manufacturing Instructions and build documentation
- Maintaining route cards and supporting rework and configuration changes
- Supporting Non-Conformance activity, including investigation and resolution using SAP
What we are looking for
Engineering background. You must meet one of the following qualification pathways:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard) AND Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 4 academic qualification (HNC, diploma, etc.) AND Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) *Not required if a L3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved
- OR Degree in a relevant Engineering subject. Equivalent or combined qualifications gained through industry experience will also be considered.
Skills & experience
- Experience producing clear Manufacturing or Build Instructions for operators
- Background supporting electro-mechanical or electronic assemblies in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on knowledge of assembly processes, ideally involving small or miniature mechanisms
- Experience working in a structured or regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, production and quality
- Comfortable working to defined processes, procedures and configuration control
