We're looking for an experienced Approved Social Worker to carry out Mental Health Act assessments, coordinate multi-agency responses, and ensure safe, lawful decision-making for service users.
Key Duties
- Work with doctors, specialists & agencies to gather background information.
- Interview service users and complete full risk assessments.
- Determine and complete applications for detention; prepare reports for hospital managers & tribunals.
- Coordinate with police, ambulance & courts for assessments or warrants.
- Consult with nearest relatives and advise on rights under the MHA.
- Arrange alternative care when detention isn't appropriate.
- Keep accurate records and complete admin.
- Attend supervision, meetings & training; contribute to service improvement.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current ASW/AMHP approval.
- Strong Mental Health Act knowledge + multi-agency experience.
