An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join a highly regarded engineering organisation working on complex, safety-critical defence systems.

You will play a key role in the redevelopment of an existing software console application, creating a modern, maintainable and verifiable solution from the ground up.

This is a greenfield redevelopment project rather than an upgrade, offering the chance to have significant influence over the software architecture and technical direction.

The role will primarily involve working independently while collaborating closely with a wider engineering team to ensure seamless integration within a larger system environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a new software console application using C++ and Qt.
  • Define and implement robust software architecture for a long-term strategic product.
  • Work throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through to verification and validation.
  • Produce clear technical documentation to support development and certification activities.
  • Collaborate with systems, integration and verification teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Contribute ideas around new tools, technologies and development approaches to improve engineering efficiency.
