Shape the future of sustainable aviation. Guidant Global is partnering with Airbus to recruit an experienced Fluid Mechanical Design Engineer to support a cutting-edge Research & Technology programme focused on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Based at the Airbus Test Centre in Filton, you'll take a technical lead role in the design, build and commissioning of a complex fluid mechanical test rig, working at the forefront of innovation in aerospace sustainability. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys end-to-end project ownership, hands-on technical problem-solving, and collaboration within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the detailed design phase, ensuring readiness for Critical Design Review (CDR)
- Define and deliver the build and commissioning plan for the test rig
- Own Verification & Validation activities, supporting safe entry into service
- Coordinate technical activities across a multidisciplinary team, ensuring clear priorities
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance, supporting engineers through complex challenges
- Work closely with stakeholders across functions, sites and international teams
What we're looking for:
We're keen to hear from engineers with strong practical experience rather than formal qualifications alone. You'll ideally bring:
- Experience working within a test laboratory or experimental environment
- Exposure to hazardous or safety-critical systems
- Strong background in fluid mechanical systems, including large or high-pressure systems
- Experience with systems testing, verification and validation activities
- Familiarity with hydro-mechanical instrumentation and data acquisition/logging
- Proven ability to influence, collaborate and communicate across disciplines
- A proactive, team-focused mindset with a passion for engineering excellence
- Experience designing and building test rigs involving flammable fuels or chemicals is highly desirable.
Why join Guidant Global?
At Guidant Global, we connect great people with meaningful work. When you join us, you benefit from:
- Opportunities to work on high-impact aerospace programmes with global reach
- A supportive recruitment experience focused on transparency and communication
- Access to long-term contract opportunities with leading engineering organisations
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity
- Flexible working patterns that support work-life balance
We're proud to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of background, identity or experience.
