Carbon60 is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Technician - Electrical to support facilities maintenance operations within a healthcare environment in Glasgow.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a busy healthcare facility, ensuring the safe and continuous operation of electrical systems, plant, equipment, and associated building services. The role involves working within a flexible maintenance team, supporting the upkeep of critical hospital environments and responding to maintenance requirements in line with service level agreements. This position is ideal for a qualified electrician with maintenance experience who can work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities
  • Maintain electrical systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms, AHUs, water systems, pressure systems, and associated plant equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns and unplanned maintenance issues within agreed response times
  • Complete minor installation works, repairs, and variation requests
  • Produce and follow Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit‑to‑Work documentation
  • Accurately complete maintenance reports, certificates, and service records
  • Use specialist testing, calibration, and diagnostic equipment where required
  • Liaise with supervisors, clients, contractors, and suppliers regarding maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures
  • Maintain tools, workshops, and storage areas in a clean and organised manner
  • Participate in an on‑call rota to provide 24/7 maintenance support
  • Support maintenance activities across additional sites when required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar electrical maintenance role
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and building services maintenance
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow safe systems of work
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience completing maintenance documentation and records
  • Willingness to participate in an on‑call rota
  • Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of Permit‑to‑Work systems
  • Understanding of Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM)
  • Experience working with generators, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and HVAC equipment
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Experience producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, water systems, and medical gas maintenance
  • Familiarity with compliance and statutory maintenance requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Healthcare facilities maintenance environment
  • Working within operational hospital and clinical areas
  • Occasional travel to support other local sites when required
  • Participation in an on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours support
  • Compliance with site‑specific safety, infection control, and permit procedures
