Guidant Global is working in partnership with Airbus to recruit an experienced Tools Development Engineer to support the successful industrialisation of jigs and tooling assets within a complex manufacturing environment. You'll collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Human Factors and external suppliers to deliver safe, compliant and efficient tooling solutions that support production excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working across the full tooling lifecycle and wants to contribute to high-profile aerospace programmes.
As a Tools Development Engineer, you will:
- Lead the creation, development and modification of jigs and tooling assets, from initial request through to final acceptance and handover
- Translate requirements from Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Human Factors into robust technical specifications
- Act as technical project lead, managing supplier interfaces and supporting supplier selection and performance
- Oversee tooling design datasets, validation and manufacturing acceptance
- Support plants and Final Assembly Lines where tooling assets are in use
- Collaborate with R&D to integrate older and emerging industrial technologies
Requirements:
- HNC in Engineering or significant hands-on experience (10+ years) in jig and tool design/engineering
- Solid tooling experience within a manufacturing or production environment (automotive or other regulated industries considered)
- Awareness of tooling maintenance and lifecycle requirements
- IT literate and comfortable working with digital tools
- Mechanical engineering background
- Experience with additive manufacturing / 3D printing
