Location: Filton (80% onsite)

Hours: 35 hours per week, worked over 4.5 days between 7am and 7pm (hours agreed at business discretion)

Pay Rate: £34.39 per hour (PAYE) / £46.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (arranged by Airbus Security)

Guidant Global is partnering with Airbus to recruit a Lead FEM & Digital Engineer to join the GFEM and Digital Analysis Team within the Wing Engineering community at Filton. You'll contribute to a dynamic team responsible for defining and delivering FE loads strategy in support of Wing design solutions, and for developing and deploying innovative FE simulation and digital projects within the transnational DDMS framework. The role operates at Wing level, working across all Airbus Programmes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the development of GFEM and DFEM projects across all Programmes
  • Analyse and validate FE and stress data, proposing design solutions optimised for weight, cost, performance and manufacturing
  • Deliver static and fatigue enablement to the Wing design teams, in line with commitments and internal quality processes
  • Deliver new GFEM and DFEM modelling solutions
  • Deliver digital solutions that optimise Wing structure enablement processes, working collaboratively with transnational IA and IG colleagues
  • Help define new ways of working in line with the Airbus DDMS strategy
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capability guidelines
  • Interface and communicate with relevant stakeholders across the business
  • Challenge technical requirements and drive a 'change and simple solutions' mindset
  • Act as a focal point for FE and digital activities at Wing level, setting task priorities and flagging risks with mitigations

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree-educated in Aerospace Engineering
  • 5-10 years' relevant professional experience
  • Experience with FEM tools, including Hyperworks, Hypermesh and MSC Nastran
  • Experience idealising Wing component structures using Finite Element Methodology
  • Knowledge of Airbus policies, methods and tools to ensure analyses align with airworthiness requirements
  • A dynamic team player with strong communication skills and a willingness to develop English at negotiation level, both written and verbal

Desirable:

  • FEM Signature delegation
  • ISAMI competent user
  • Experience with UNIX-based platforms
  • Airbus FEM approval level
  • Wing experience (or strong FEM experience gained outside Wing)
