Overview
Guidance Marine design and manufacture a range of Laser, Microwave RF and Visual Wavelength position reference sensors for the marine industry.
Purpose of the role:
Due increased product development Guidance Marine are seeking an experienced electronics designer to work with the existing multi-disciplinary engineering team!
Reporting to the Hardware Manager, the role will be office based in our Leicester offices and offers a hybrid working model of three days on site, two days working from home.
Responsibilities
- Capture and understand the application specific requirements for new sensor designs
- Full life-cycle design, development and test of electronic assemblies and systems
- Create test solutions
- Provide technical support in design and development of electronic systems
- Test electronic systems to evaluate functionality and performance
- Research latest technologies and accordingly determine design parameters
- Implement projects based on product specifications
- Prepare design documentations and engineering specifications according to company standards
- Review and recommend changes to existing designs to improve performance and quality
- Perform root cause analysis of design issues and develop effective resolutions
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
- Competent knowledge and application of electronic design with at least 4 years’ experience within a relevant field; product design/engineering, industrial design, marine, automotive.
- Experience of full life cycle electronic design and manufacture and exposure to manufacturing processes, materials and techniques
- Design for manufacture and design for test techniques.
- Competent user of Altium Designer CAD package and experience of producing DFM drawings and CAD data.
- Experience of FPGA development workflow is desirable.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised to an agreed goal or set of deliverables.
- A driven individual who strives for accurate results in every aspect of their work.
- Ability to work along with other engineering disciplines.
