Headquartered in New York, Guggenheim offers a premier Investment Banking advisory practice to clients from offices across New York, London, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Houston. Our internship program is designed for students and recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in Investment Banking and who are looking to experience working in a dynamic Investment Banking advisory team. Established in April 2023, the inaugural European Guggenheim office offers a unique entrepreneurial opportunity in the Investment Banking industry. Our London based Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) is a key part of GS’ Global FSG practice and leads the coverage and execution of transactions for private equity clients in the UK and Europe.
Interns are important members of our deal teams and work as a junior analyst on a variety of interesting strategic advisory, M&A and financing-related transactions and assignments. You will have meaningful exposure to senior bankers and client representatives as well as the ability to create meaningful relationships with junior bankers within the firm globally. Candidates should be top performers who are willing to work hard in an entrepreneurial banking environment where initiative, creativity, maturity and enthusiasm for learning are very highly valued. Genuine interest in the Financial Sponsors sector and excitement to join a fast‑growing, dynamic, and entrepreneurial team is a plus. We are seeking bright, highly motivated individuals with solid corporate finance knowledge backed by strong technical skills that are looking to jump‑start their career through hands‑on training and experience at a growing firm. The duration for this internship is June through December 2026.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform company and industry research and gain in-depth understanding of sector trends, client challenges and strategies in order to develop innovative and creative solutions for our clients
- Prepare and participate in client presentations and transaction execution
- Support deal teams in building, maintaining and using financial models
- Perform financial and valuation analysis such as discounted cash flow analysis, leveraged buyout analysis and multiples valuation analysis
- Develop an in-depth understanding of Investment Banking product and services: Debt, Equity, Mergers and Acquisitions and Restructuring
- Interact with senior bankers, clients, lawyers and accountants
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong interest for problem solving and client service
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and MS Word
- Genuine interest in finance, resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm
- Understanding of financial valuation is a plus
- Significant level of maturity and the ability to work under pressure in order to meet key client deadlines as a part of a small team serving top company executives and senior management
- Highly organized and proactive, with the initiative and ability to multitask and work with limited supervision
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong extra‑curricular interests and/or achievements is a plus
