To lead a team of GIS Technicians and Specialists responsible for the capture, control and maintenance of asset information registers, databases, drawn records and digital data systems for major infrastructure categories such as subsea, generation and network assets.The role will lead the development of GIS systems within the business against an agreed strategy focusing on network records but also developing the integration of data from across the business into the core GIS to improve the information available.The role requirements include leadership of a team using modern survey techniques and full utilisation of the GIS to update and maintain asset records, work efficiently, to a high-level of accuracy and quality control. This can be a fast-paced environment that changes quickly, and candidates will need to be able to adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
- Background in GIS use, deployment and development.
- Ability to act as super user of key / core GIS software.
- Understanding of electricity networks.
- Team player, able to multi-task and be adaptable to accommodate change.
- Able to work collaboratively and lead a high performing team.
- Able to deal with clients face-to-face on-site in a professional and respectful manner.
- Right-to-Work in Guernsey.
- A background or knowledge in a technical or construction discipline with experience of working with utilities.
- Minimum of βAβ Level or equivalent at Grade C in a relevant subject (Geography, Mathematics, Science or Technology) and evidence of relevant CPD.
- Skilled in software systems such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Smallworld and competent to learn and promote / leverage the benefit of new systems.
- An interest in new technologies and methods surrounding geospatial data collection.
- Self-motivated with good organisation and communication skills.
- Good time management in terms of meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Valid Full Driving Licence (Cat B).
- Awareness of working practices re: high-voltage substation and power station access (Competency controls).
- Ability to use specialised cable tracing equipment.
