To install and maintain electrical energy meters at customer installations across the island of Guernsey. The work is normally carried out in customer premises in accordance with set safety rules and procedures. The post holder must be able to deal with customers in a polite and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and replace energy metering equipment, including single and polyphase meters, to enable accurate billing and ensure installations meet the latest standards.
- Modify electronic pre‑payment equipment as required to specific installation instructions.
- Maintain metering communication infrastructure connected to the LV distribution network.
- Always ensure compliance with Guernsey Electricity safety rules while working on live equipment.
- Investigate and report fraudulent activity when visiting customer premises.
- Promote the company and its service offerings and provide customers with advice on GEL equipment installed and how to operate them efficiently.
- Ensure completion of all administration work to maintain accurate and up‑to‑date information.
