The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

To undertake general running repairs, maintenance and modification work on any of the Company's buildings, properties and facilities. Works as required on any area of the Company's buildings, properties and facilities, which may include working in controlled areas, such as the power station site, generation halls, switch rooms, auxiliary plant rooms, substations and leased properties. The role will require a range of skilled and semi-skilled duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a wide range of general maintenance activities to ensure that buildings, properties and facilities are maintained in a fit for purpose condition.
  • Carry out a wide range of general building works which may include carpentry, painting, basic masonry and fencing installation.
  • Undertake minor repair works on roofing, cladding, drainage, steel fixing, concreting, ground-work, installation/erection of temporary works and shoring.
  • Operate specialist equipment, machinery and hand tools safely and to a trained standard.
  • Carry out any general labouring tasks as required by the Company.
  • Such other duties as may be allocated, and interchange of duties as required.
  • Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Preferably a tradesperson with several years’ experience.
  • Possesses the ability to interpret and apply information contained on basic drawings and in work schedules.
  • Must be authorised as 'Competent' within the Company Safety Rules to work in HV Substations.
  • Requires practical knowledge of a wide range of general building practices and have a good knowledge of safe working methods.
  • Must be literate, numerate and be able to arrange and organise small amounts of paperwork.
  • Must hold a Category B full and valid driving license, at a minimum.
  • Be willing to undertake any skill and knowledge training required.
  • Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors.
