Purpose of the Role

The Security Team Leader is to support the Lead Estates Officer responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of on-site security operations, ensuring the safe, compliant and professional delivery of security services in support of building management across the Heart of the city estate. The role provides visible leadership, operational assurance and acts as the primary escalation point between Security Officers, GUK Operations Management and the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership
  • Support the Lead estates officer and supervise Security Officers during each shift, using initiative and able to make decisions.
  • Allocate duties, patrols and posts in line with the Assignment Instructions.
  • Ensure all patrols, welfare checks, and assurance tests are completed and recorded.
  • Provide effective shift handovers and briefings.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, conduct and customer service.
  • Interface with the client
    • Act as the second/first when Lead estates officer is not available security point of contact for Building Management on shift.
    • Escalate incidents, risks and trends promptly and professionally.
    • Support operational meetings, audits, walkthroughs and inspections when requested.
    • Ensure security operations align with the client’s service standards.
  • Incident & Emergency Management
    • Take initial control of incidents on site until appropriate escalation occurs.
    • Implement emergency procedures in line with Assignment Instructions and Estates management Fire & Emergency Management Plan.
    • Apply ETHANE reporting to notify the Security Operations Centre and Building Management.
    • Coordinate emergency service access and provide accurate briefings.
    • Ensure all incidents are fully documented and closed out.
  • Patrols, Access & Key Control
    • Ensure patrols are completed to frequency, scope and quality standards.
    • Monitor compliance with patrol management systems.
    • Oversee access control arrangements.
    • Control keyholding procedures, investigations and weekly audits.
    • Report defects, hazards and security concerns to Building Management.
  • Supervision & Compliance
    • Confirm all officers hold valid and visible SIA licences and ID.
    • Ensure officers are trained, inducted and authorised for the buildings they are deployed to.
    • Monitor compliance against SIA, ACS and company policies.
  • Administration & Reporting
    • Review Daily Occurrence Book and incident reports for accuracy and quality.
    • Ensure SOC reference numbers are recorded and actions followed up.
    • Maintain effective shift handovers and communication logs.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications

    • Valid SIA Front Line Licence (Security Guarding/door supervisor)
    • Previous experience in leadership
    • Strong incident management and decision-making skills
    • Excellent communication and reporting ability
    • Confident working in a multi-tenant commercial environment
    • SIA CCTV Licence
    • First Aid at Work certification
    • Experience working within Cushman & Wakefield–managed estates
