Job role
Working with us at GUK, we value you more than just a security guard. You will be responsible for maintaining the look and feel of our pristine site. You will be responsible for providing safety of this modern building with your customer service and support for those who work and visit the building.
The role is critical to ensure our operational day-to-day frontline services work like clockwork. A typical day for someone who is self-motivated could include access control, greeting visitors, regular patrols, and completing the daily occurrence book. You will then finish every shift with a good thorough handover.
You are an individual who communicates well, have a strong sense for reliability and understand the importance of being smartly presented in uniform at all times. Also you would need to be proactive and always willing to learn.
You will receive full training and we are looking for motivated individuals who will make a measurable contribution to the continued success of GUK.
Professional requirements

Duties
- External Estate patrols
- To be mobile and visible to the public and tenants across the estate.
- Carry out external patrols, be vigilant for signs of property damage, graffiti, acts of public disorder and health and safety issues. Report and escalate these using the correct mechanisms (I.E Res Link system, Crac radio and Disc system).
- Visit retail, leisure and tenanted units and discuss security issues with the tenants.
- Encourage tenants to report all crimes to the police, ensure Estate team are aware of issues impacting tenants.
- Report issues in real time using the city’s DISC APP or the CRAC radio - share intelligence from these mechanisms with Estate team and tenants where appropriate.
- Support tenants with minor issues (e.g., unlocking/loading arrangements).
- Assist members of the public with directions, access queries, or concerns.
- Report maintenance issues (lights out, broken doors, spills) to the estate team or log on eLogbook’s.
- Internal building patrols
- Carry out internal building patrols - i.e. H&S and property walkthroughs using Reslink, checking Fire exits unobstructed, Plant rooms secure, Trip hazards identified, Waste and service areas safe and hygienic, and report findings using Res Link System.
- Report findings to the Building Managers and Welcome Hosts.
- Interact with tenants where possible, acting as an ambassador for the Estate and provide a reassuring presence to workspace tenants.
- On occasion and when required cover the building receptions to relieve the welcome hosts in emergencies or to allow them to carry out other duties.
- Be vigilant for trespassers and ensure any contractors are following site safety rules.
- Be inquisitive—question any unusual observations with Estate team.
- Control room duties
- Cover the control room, carry out all duties necessary in this environment (e.g. complete DOB, raise incident reports, escalate issues, call emergency services).
- Monitor live feeds for suspicious behaviour or safety concerns.
- Track incidents and gather and provide evidence to management or police.
- Ensure GDPR compliance when handling footage.
- Create a welcoming first impression to telephone enquiries or to visitors to the estate.
- Escort visitors around the buildings when necessary, signing them in and out and ensuring that they are looked after and made to feel welcome.
- Sign off jobs or worksheets when necessary and when authorised to do so, provide feedback to Resident Engineers or Estate team when necessary.
- Unlock buildings and support visitors such as letting agents or sub-contractors, acting as an ambassador for the estate. Provide feedback to the Estates team or the Resident Engineers following the visit.
- Staff rotas.
- General duties
- Respond to fire alarm and intruder (panic) alarm activations.
- Assist with evacuations in accordance with the estate’s emergency plan.
- Provide initial support in emergencies until emergency services arrive.
- Carry out lockdown procedures if required.
- Act in accordance with AI’s and SIA training/licence requirements at all times.
- Act as a duty first aider for the estate.
- Open/close the estate or individual buildings.
- Carry out in or out-of-hours security checks.
- Escort contractors requiring access to restricted areas.
- Admin duties allocated by GUK to support Estate Operations and the wider GUK team.
