The predicted salary is between 11 - 16 ÂŁ per hour.

The Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of company assets, employees, and visitors. This includes responding to fire alarms and managing evacuations, conducting regular patrols both inside and outside the premises, and maintaining awareness of the surrounding environment. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude, excellent observation skills, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies while strictly adhering to site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Protection
    • Monitor and safeguard company assets, including physical property, equipment, and personnel.
    • Implement security protocols to prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other potential risks.
    • Conduct checks on high‐value assets to ensure they are secure and adequately monitored.
  • Fire Alarm and Evacuation Response
    • Respond immediately to fire alarms and coordinate evacuation procedures following established protocols.
    • Assist with ensuring that all personnel safely exit the building and assist emergency responders as needed.
    • Conduct post‐evacuation checks to ensure that no one is left inside the building.
  • Building and Perimeter Patrol
    • Perform regular patrols inside and around the building to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security breaches or safety hazards.
    • Monitor and report any suspicious activity or potential threats observed during patrols.
    • Ensure that all doors, windows, and other entry points are secured at all times.
  • Environmental Awareness and Risk Management
    • Monitor the local environment, including weather conditions, nearby construction, or other external factors that could impact building security or safety.
    • Work with local authorities, neighborhood organizations, and other relevant bodies to address environmental risks and secure the area surrounding the building.
    • Report and manage any identified risks from the local environment that may affect the premises or personnel.
  • Access Control and Visitor Management
    • Ensure that all employees, visitors, and contractors are properly identified and authorised before accessing the building.
    • Assist with enforcing policies regarding restricted areas within the building.
  • Incident Reporting and Record Keeping
    • Document all security incidents, breaches, and relevant occurrences in detailed and accurate reports.
    • Maintain logs of daily activities, noting any observations, incidents, and patrol findings.
    • Provide timely reports to the Security Manager or Security Operation Centre on security incidents or recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Coordinate with the security team, emergency responders, and building management to ensure a cohesive approach to security.
    • Participate in regular security briefings, training, and development activities.
    • Communicate effectively with employees and visitors to promote a safe and secure environment.
  • Adherence to Site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Follow all established site-specific SOPs to ensure consistency, compliance, and safety in all security operations.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of updated SOPs and apply them in daily responsibilities and emergency situations.
    • Participate in ongoing training related to SOPs and other site policies as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Door Supervisor Badge (DS)
  • Previous experience in a security role or related field preferred, strong observational and problem‐solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with fire and security alarm systems.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

This role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking and is primarily based in an outdoor environment. The Security Officer must be able to work in varying weather conditions and carry out duties while wearing PPE and required equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Wear and correctly use all issued PPE and equipment, including body armour, body‐worn cameras, radios, and other safety or communication devices, in line with site SOPs.
  • Ensure all equipment is operational at the start of each shift and report any faults immediately.
