We are seeking a passionate subject Leader for English and Literacy to fulfil this role for a maternity cover. This role will suit an aspiring or experienced English Subject Leader who is looking for an exciting opportunity to lead the whole school in a core subject in this Outstanding Alternative Provision.

You will need to be committed to supporting young people to rebuild their self-esteem and resilience, through leading an inspiring curriculum that provides opportunities to gain AQA GCSE and Functional Skills, English qualifications.

About the School: This is a large, friendly, and inclusive PRU that prides itself on helping the young people it works with to achieve their full potential. It is also a complex PRU, catering for a number of specific groups of young people. These include pupils who have been permanently excluded, those who are dual registered, pupils who have recently moved into the area, and some who have not regularly attended school in the past.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations with effective strategies and resources.
  • Encourage critical analysis of literature and creative writing skills.
  • Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or drama productions.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level.
