At GSL Education, we are supporting a Special Needs school in Liskeard who are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis with the idea of going permanent! The school provides education to children across KS1-2 who cannot function in a mainstream setting and may have been excluded from their previous schools. Every child has a high level of support often including one-to-one support and bespoke timetables following thematic learning experiences. A wide range of personalised learning in and out of the classroom is designed to engage the student, build resilience and provide the foundation for rapid academic progress. All the children have SEMH and behavioural needs and may have other associated needs including ADHD and Autism.
Responsibilities:
- Guide students as Learning Mentor, offering personalised guidance and support.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop comprehensive support plans.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes improved social interactions and communication skills.
- Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and implement effective interventions to address behaviour challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
- UK driving licence with access to a car.
- Happy to use the car for business use and have business insurance.
- Be available ASAP on a full-time basis.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Demonstrated patience and empathy along with flexibility and adaptability.
