GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicatedPE HLTAto join a dynamic and inclusive school setting inAshington. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality PE provision while inspiring pupils to engage confidently with sport and physical activity.
As aPE HLTA, you will work closely with the PE department and wider teaching team to support the planning and delivery of structured PE lessons across the school. You will be responsible for covering classes in the absence of the PE teacher, leading small group interventions, supporting pupils with additional needs, and fostering a positive environment where physical activity is both inclusive and enjoyable.
Key Responsibilities of the PE HLTA:
- Lead and support PE lessons across different year groups in line with the national curriculum.
- Deliver structured sports and fitness activities under the direction of the PE lead or SLT.
- Provide targeted interventions to promote physical development, teamwork, and resilience.
- Support children with SEND or behavioural needs during physical activity sessions.
- Organise and supervise extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, or health-based initiatives.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times in line with school policy.
- Track pupil engagement and progress, offering feedback to teaching staff where needed.
Job Requirements:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent Level 4 Teaching Assistant certification.
- A background in PE, sports coaching, or physical education is essential.
- Experience working in a school environment, ideally delivering PE lessons.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with a proactive attitude.
- An understanding of inclusive practice and experience supporting children with diverse needs.
- Havean updated CV(covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and anenhanced DBS registered to the Update Service(or be willing to apply for one).
