Qualified Early Years Practitioner - Newcastle
A welcoming and nurturing school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated Qualified Early Years Practitioner to join their Early Years team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting young children's development, learning and wellbeing.
As a Qualified Early Years Practitioner, you will provide high-quality support within the Early Years setting, helping children develop their communication, social, emotional, physical and early academic skills through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Assist with planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning activities.
Support children’s communication, language, literacy and numeracy development.
Promote children’s social and emotional development.
Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
Provide individual and small-group support where required.
Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
Observe children’s development and contribute to assessments and learning records.
Support children with additional needs, including SEND, where required.
Maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
The Ideal Qualified Early Years Practitioner Will Have
A recognised Early Years / Childcare qualification, such as Level 2 or Level 3.
Previous experience working within an Early Years, nursery or school environment.
Good knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development.
A nurturing, patient and enthusiastic approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs would be advantageous.
Confidence managing behaviour and encouraging positive interactions.
The ability to work effectively as part of an Early Years team.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
A fully checkable employment and reference history.
Competitive daily rates of £90-£120 per day.
