Are you an experienced Exam Scribe with a background in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? GSL Education are offering a rewarding opportunity for a skilled and reliable Exam Scribe to assist students who are unable to write or type independently during their exams in Newham. This is a crucial role in ensuring that students with SEN receive the support they need to demonstrate their knowledge and reach their full potential.
Role Overview:
As an Exam Scribe, you will work closely with students during their exams, transcribing their spoken answers accurately. Your role will be vital in ensuring that each student has a fair opportunity to succeed. You must be able to write at speed, maintain confidentiality and follow examination regulations precisely.
Key Responsibilities of an Exam Scribe:
- Assist students by transcribing their dictated answers during exams, maintaining strict compliance with JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) regulations.
- Provide support to students with SEN, ensuring a fair and stress-free exam experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the exam process.
- Follow exam board guidelines and instructions given by the exam invigilator.
- Ensure written responses are clear, legible and accurately reflect the student’s verbal answers.
Requirements of the Exam Scribe:
- Previous experience/training as an Exam Scribe (essential).
- Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with physical disabilities, Dyslexia, or other learning difficulties.
- Excellent written English skills, with strong spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to write quickly and accurately under exam conditions.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
