If so, GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Director of Learning for English to lead the high-performing English faculty of our Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire, starting from September 2025.
Director of Learning Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction, development, and performance of the English department across all key stages (KS3 to KS5).
- Inspire and manage a team of dedicated English teachers.
- Develop an engaging, challenging and inclusive curriculum.
- Monitor progress and outcomes, implementing effective intervention.
- Foster a love of language, literature, and creative expression across the school.
- Play a wider role in whole-school leadership, contributing to pastoral care, staff development and school improvement priorities.
Director of Learning Requirements:
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in English and a proven track record of success in the classroom.
- Substantial experience in curriculum leadership, middle or senior leadership roles (e.g. Head of English, Assistant Head of Faculty).
- A strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Passionate about raising standards and committed to inclusive education for all learners.
- Hold a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
