If so, GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Director of Learning for English to lead the high-performing English faculty of our Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire , starting from September 2025 .

Director of Learning Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategic direction, development, and performance of the English department across all key stages (KS3 to KS5).
• Inspire and manage a team of dedicated English teachers.
• Develop an engaging, challenging and inclusive curriculum.
• Monitor progress and outcomes, implementing effective intervention.
• Foster a love of language, literature, and creative expression across the school.
• Play a wider role in whole-school leadership, contributing to pastoral care, staff development and school improvement priorities.

Director of Learning Requirements:

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in English and a proven track record of success in the classroom.
• Substantial experience in curriculum leadership, middle or senior leadership roles (e.g. Head of English, Assistant Head of Faculty).
• A strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Passionate about raising standards and committed to inclusive education for all learners.
• Hold a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education .
