GSL Education are currently seeking a caring and reliable Complex Needs Assistant to support students in schools in Bourne. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in care, education, or health, who are passionate about inclusive learning and dedicated to providing personalised support.

As a Complex Needs Assistant, you will be working closely with students who may have a range of needs including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, communication challenges, medical conditions, and sensory impairments. Your role will be to assist in their learning, care, and development within a safe and supportive school environment.

What you have to do as a Complex Needs Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with complex needs in the classroom
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and feeding routines when required
  • Support students in accessing learning activities tailored to their individual needs
  • Help implement EHCPs and work alongside professionals such as physiotherapists and speech & language therapists
  • Encourage student independence and self-confidence through structured support
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Record and report progress, behaviour, and incidents as required

Complex Needs Assistant Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with complex needs as a Complex Needs Assistant is desirable
  • Knowledge of supporting physical disabilities, medical needs, or sensory impairments
  • Willingness to provide personal care and follow individual care plans
  • Understanding of safeguarding, EHCPs, and inclusive education practices
  • A calm, proactive, and empathetic approach to support
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
