Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about helping young people manage challenges and make positive progress? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to support young people in an educational setting in Hull.
This role would suit someone who can build trusting relationships with young people who may present with complex behavioural, emotional, or social needs. You will provide consistent support, encourage positive choices, and help create a structured environment where young people can feel safe and supported.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to young people who require additional behavioural, emotional, and social support.
- Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Support young people with emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and positive behaviour strategies.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations, following agreed de-escalation and behaviour-support approaches.
- Work closely with teachers and wider support staff to implement consistent strategies and monitor progress.
- Encourage engagement in learning and activities while promoting confidence, independence, and positive decision-making.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional, or social needs is desirable.
- Experience in education, residential care, youth work, mentoring, pastoral support, or a similar setting would be advantageous.
- A calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic approach when working in challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive professional relationships with young people.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
