We’re now looking for aTechnical Operations Manager (12 months FTC) to play a key role in managing the quality and allocation of our digital advertising inventory and lead the technical setup of our advertising vendors.

About the Role:

Own the prioritisation and allocation of inventory within all ad-serving platforms including Google Ad Manager.

  • Manage operational integrations with advertising vendors and act as the key point of contact for our brand safety vendor.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Operations team to forecast monetisation potential and make data-driven recommendations to maximise inventory revenue.
  • Develop strategies to optimise inventory value in response to internal and external factors, such as brand safety, traffic spikes and sell-through rates.
  • Monitor ad stack performance and oversee technical setup to ensure efficient delivery and governance of third-party tags.
  • Lead the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of our programmatic supply platforms.
  • Report on overall inventory capacity, identifying key trends and drivers, and contribute to pricing and budgeting decisions.
  • Represent Digital Optimisation in cross-functional discussions on the impact of new technologies or strategic changes on ad revenue and inventory.
  • Maintain oversight of ad unit structure and usage guidelines across the Guardian’s digital platforms.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • In-depth knowledge of digital and programmatic advertising technologies, including Google Ad Manager and brand safety tools.
  • Strong experience in quantitative analysis and statistical modelling.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • A commercially-minded and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for varied stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across departments and functions.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to anticipate issues before they arise.

You’ll have 30 days of annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase an additional 5 days.
