We are looking for a Commercial Strategy Europe - Lead, to play a central role in strengthening and accelerating the Guardian’s supporter-led business model across Europe (outside the UK). This is a newly created role, part of the Reader Revenue team you’ll help ensure our journalism is sustainably funded by growing recurring revenue from paying supporters across the region. Within the role you will be a sole-contributor with a self-starter mentality, happy to take a hands-on approach to partnership building within and outside the organisation.

About the role
  • Develop and spearhead the Guardian’s growth strategy for Europe, ensuring alignment with editorial priorities and our audience strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate and build market expansion opportunities and mission-aligned partnerships across Europe - including media organisations, cultural institutions, NGOs and universities - to strengthen brand awareness, salience and connection to Guardian journalism.
  • Translate insight into how European audiences read, value and support the Guardian into a clear strategy.
  • Work closely with Editorial to grow supporter engagement through journalism, newsletters, podcasts, print and events.
About You
  • Experience operating across multiple European markets - and fluency in additional European languages - is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience delivering growth via strong brand partnerships and new lead generation. Familiarity with reader revenue, subscription or supporter-led business models is a plus.
  • Inclusive, collaborative and confident working in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of audience behaviour in digital news, media or mission-driven organisations, with experience working closely with Editorial teams.
  • Happy to travel internationally.
